The Cowaramup Bullshed is the ‘Men Shed’ for the Margaret River region.
Apparently others are planned for Margs itself and there is also one at Augusta as well (Molloy Island). I called in to see about joining because I want to make frames for some pictures I painted that I have a mind to sell, but some of the blokes I saw working away were tackling much more complex projects like benches and bookshelves. In fact you could potentially build virtually anything you wanted there given enough time (and wood). The shed requires that you join up by filling in a form and paying a very small fee ($50) and considering what you get for $50 it is a bargain! Kevan Gray is the man to talk to about joining and he very kindly showed me around the shop and all the great professional machinery they have to help you create whatever it is you have in mind.
They are at pains to make sure that newbies are safe and won’t allow the use of any machines without initial supervision to ensure that no accidents ruin your day (or the other members either). There are also women’s days if some ladies are wanting to try their hand at woodwork with plenty of keen old blokes prepared to show them how to work the machines.
If you want to join call Kevan Gray: 0428 959 307 or you can email him on: navekgray@gmail.com
